BioMatters is a student-led social enterprise that focuses on sustainability and aims to raise awareness of and access to biofuels for urban low-income populations. The project aims to reduce the energy burden on low-income urban communities by exploring cleaner fuel options that provide both economic and environmental benefits.
The initiative places a high value on research and community engagement and, therefore, will conduct surveys and pilot studies to help us understand the factors driving current energy use. Investigating current patterns of energy use, levels of awareness, and barriers to biofuel adoption (such as price, availability, and ease of use) are just a few of the issues BioMatters researches and works towards. The project also seeks to develop resources to educate communities about how biofuels serve as cleaner, more sustainable alternatives.
The aim of this project is to close the gap between knowledge and its implementation, and to that end, it collaborates with experts in sustainability and industry practitioners to assess how scalable options can be achieved. Through evidence-based decision-making, BioMatters encourages conversations and research amongst youth that provide insights into the best ways to implement clean energy sources on a wider scale.
